Kouichi Fine Arts is pleased to present Kenji Kubota, Takeshi Igawa, Hanako Shimojo and Megumi Ito Group Exhibition ‘JAPANESE LACQUER COLLECTION’ from April 14th.
This group exhibition features variety types of lacquer works by 4 of our gallery artists, Kenji Kubota who mainly produces hand rubbed lacquer chairs and tables, Takeshi Igawa who produces objects finished with roiro lacquer, Hanako Shimojo who produces gold-lacquered objects, and Megumi Ito who produces red lacquer tablewares called ’Negoro lacquer.’ They are all lacquer wares, but depending on materials, production processes, and designs, they have different ways to use and have its own purposes. I personally like lacquer objects and asked Mr. Kubota to make a rubbed lacquered bed frame before. It’s been a while since then, that lacquer frame is getting be clearer and we can see beautiful moires on it. We’d be happy if you are attracted by lacquer works through this exhibition. We’re looking forward to seeing you all then!
