Yamae Mayumi: Where Heat Stays

2025.10.06 – 10.18

Kouichi Fine Arts is pleased to announce Where Heat Stays, a solo exhibition by Mayumi Yamae, on view from October 6 through October 18, 2025.

Known for her emotionally charged depictions of women, Yamae’s works often explore femininity through motifs of flowers and feathers, evoking both sensuality and fragility. While the theme of “life” remains central to her practice, this new body of work brings a heightened awareness to the physicality of the body—its warmth, breath, and presence. Each piece pulses with a sense of corporeal immediacy, inviting viewers to feel rather than simply observe.

This marks Yamae’s first solo exhibition in two years, and it offers a striking evolution of her painterly voice. In addition to her signature brilliance and refined surface treatments, these new works introduce dynamic movement—an energetic unfolding that expands her visual language while retaining its poetic subtlety.

The exhibition will also include a special presentation of a work previously exhibited at the Fukuyama Museum of Art as part of the group show Rose – The Genealogy of an Image.

We warmly invite you to experience this vivid and sensuous new chapter in Mayumi Yamae’s practice. We look forward to welcoming you.

Exhibition Dates:
October 6th (Monday) to October 18th (Saturday), 2025
Hours: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Until 5:00 PM on Saturdays)
